HH Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah passes away

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: His Highness Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah has passed away.
Born in 1942, Sheikh Jaber Mubarak began his distinguished career in 1968, initially serving as Supervisor of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Amiri Diwan. He subsequently held the roles of Director of the Department and Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
On March 19, 1979, Sheikh Jaber was appointed Governor of Hawalli. He later served as Governor of Ahmadi and held various ministerial roles, including Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Minister of Information, and Advisor in the Office of His Highness the Amir.
On February 14, 2001, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak was named Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. He was reappointed to these positions in the government formed on July 14, 2003. On February 9, 2006, he was promoted to First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, and Minister of Defense, retaining these roles in the governments formed on July 11, 2006, and March 25, 2007.
Following a ministerial reshuffle on October 28, 2007, Sheikh Jaber resumed his role as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, a position he held through successive governments formed in May 2008, January 2009, May 2009, and May 2011, until the government resigned on November 28, 2011.
In November 2011, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak was appointed Prime Minister, serving in the role until 2019. (Arab Times)
