HH Amir's visit will have a positive impact on Kuwait & Pakistan ties

KUWAIT: Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Malik Farooq has affirmed the strong and deep-rooted ties between his country and Kuwait. In an interview with the daily, Farooq stressed that the two countries are exerting tremendous efforts to coordinate their positions on global issues; particularly the Palestinian cause and the situation in Gaza. He stated that both countries have identical positions on these issues. He confirmed the positive impact of the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Pakistan in strengthening bilateral relations and pushing them forward in all fields.
He also revealed that the Joint Industrial Committee between the two countries will hold meetings from May 28-30, indicating that several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed between Kuwait and Pakistan as a result of these ongoing meetings for the fifth session of the committee. Representatives of Kuwait Investment Authority attended the meetings to learn about the investment opportunities in Pakistan and the benefits offered to Kuwaiti businesspersons. Farooq added that approximately 90,000 Pakistanis are employed in Kuwait, and they have gained the respect of both the government and the people. He disclosed that the trade exchange between Kuwait and Pakistan amounted to $2.3 billion in 2023, with the majority being oil imported by Pakistan. He added his country is keen on enhancing the export of commodities to Kuwait, particularly food and crops. On the other hand, he pointed out that several Kuwaiti companies have started investing in Pakistan in the fields of food security and renewable energy; in addition to the establishment of a bank owned by Kuwaiti companies.
